Choosing Your Music

What songs should you prepare for your wedding?

Every wedding varies due to religious affiliation and personal preferences, so your specific needs may look different. Below are the sections of the wedding that couples typically request custom music for.

  • Guests are taking their seats 15-20 minutes before the ceremony begins. These songs set the tone for the ceremony - songs that evoke all those lovey-dovey, sentimental, nostalgic, and cheerful emotions.

  • The officiant, groom, parents, grandparents, bridal party, flower girl, and ring bearers walk-in music - a song or two that you and your partner hold close to your hearts. 3-5 minutes.

  • Your moment! Usually starting with the bridal march to grab everyone's attention, then a quick transition into your song of choice. 1-2 minutes.

  • You may include moments like signing of the registry, blessing of the rings, a unity candle ceremony, or any other cultural and religious ritual in your wedding. Length may vary.

  • You did it! You’re officially married, and now it's time to celebrate as you walk back down the aisle with the bridal party closely following. 3-10 minutes.

  • Choose a song that reflects you and your partner’s love story, your relationship, and your years of joy to come! Length may vary.

Questions to consider:

  • Do you have any specific genres, styles, or special songs in mind?

  • What emotions are you looking to invoke in your guests, partner, and yourself?

  • How long will your processional be, and how many songs will you need?

  • For the Bride’s walk-in: Do you want to walk down the aisle to one song, or would you like a transition to use as a cue (eg., starting with the bridal march then transitioning to your personal song)?
